::: disclosure :::

At the time of posting this note, my blog on innovation has already gone beyond 200,000 hits, which I am now complementing with regular updates on twitter and facebook:

    The intent behind my online activity is to engage in public discussions around innovation and the management practices that make it successful.

    I am also interested in design and new product development in general terms as well as industry developments in the ICT sector, which comprehends information and communication technologies.

In that context, my views are solely my own and do not represent those of acquaintances, employers, customers, partners or any other professional relationships for that matter.

I do try to back up my statements with examples and supporting evidence or viewpoints. That leads me to the extensive use of feeds, embeds, mashups and links to source articles and other miscellaneous online media, which happen to be publicly available from external sources.

    I provide the links to credit content sources as well as a convenience to you. Please note that this does not constitute an endorsement of any information, products or services contained therein.

    Additionally, specific rights as well as terms and conditions might apply to those external materials. Please check those terms with their respective authors and/or owners.

Readers' comments, entries written by guest bloggers, tips sent by email, information provided through RSS or any other kind of feeds are legally considered information provided by third party content providers, which I am, obviously, not responsible for. Keep in mind that those sources might have updated their views and content since first referred.

    With regards to comments left by my blogs’ readers, friends, followers or anyone else, I respectfully ask for those contributions to be both civil and relevant.

    Therefore, I reserve the right to delete inappropriate comments when detected which, admittedly, might take me some time as I can only afford to approach that on best effort basis.

Spam is becoming an issue of concern. Every week I have to spend time deleting comments that have nothing to do with my blog. The number of automated splogs is also growing. These are phony blogs where I’ve seen quite a few of my articles posted. Many do not credit the source and some even make up the author’s name.

It should be noted that the 2.0 services that I am leveraging, such as WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Blip.tv, Plaxo and others might display ads, which have nothing to do with me, as I am not personally involved in any of their online advertising programs.

Please do not search my blog for insider’s information on Alcatel-Lucent, there isn’t any. All references to my current employer happen to be based on content that has already been made public by the company, such as my articles, presentations and talks. Note that I follow the same policy in social settings. So, please do not expect me to answer questions on company matters when meeting in person either.

After having read all of the above legalese, one might wonder if creating an online presence is actually worth it. My honest opinion is that participating in social media can be a very rewarding experience:

    Back in 2008 I uploaded a presentation on social networking on slideshare.net, stating on the cover page that “we share, therefore we are” in contrast to the best known quote from Descartes “I think, therefore I am”.

    Professional speaking, knowledge sharing and teamwork happen to be two of the critical success factors helping companies innovate in the XXI century. In recent times, open innovation has led to growing levels of enterprise collaboration and supportive ecosystems, thus furthering emerging technologies.

    Personally speaking, I am glad to live in a society that is democratizing access not only to information but also to creation, distribution and discussion tools. That’s a game changer worth experiencing and being part of.
